Sustainable development is the key for the future of every society
The importance of transport is increasing everyday and in COLAS we are aware of it. Therefore we are not hust trying to keep up but to move forward along with the needs of the community by solving the future needs now. We percieve the need to share common spaces effectively as one of the most important challenges while i tis extremely important to ensure the flexibility in their use and maintain the safety of all users. This i show we come up with innovative solutions that help meet these needs.
The Solar Road - Wattway
FIRST PHOTOVOLTAIC ROADSURFACE IN THE WORLD
Imagine the road which will be able to harvest the solar energy and provide locally clean renewable energy in the form of electricity.
For five years already Group Colas has been conducting joint research with INES French national institute for solar energy. By combining road construction with photovoltaic technology, Wattway should deliver clean and renewable energy under all types of vehicles.
FLOWELL
Group Colas, in partnership with CEA Tech, has imagined Flowell, a solution comprised of panels containing LEDs encapsulated in a multilayer substrate, all connected to an electrical grid. Currently in its development phase, the solution provides dynamic road markings that can modulate the uses of the roadway, thus making roads a shared space, safer for everyone.
